A STUDIO BUILT FOR PLAYING TOGETHER.
Record in a calm, purpose-built residential studio designed around musicians, performances and the way bands actually work.
BAY Custom Studios combines a spacious live room, three isolated recording cabins, extensive instruments and backline, and direct engineer-led support throughout the session.
QUICK FACTS:
Main recording studio in Normandy
27 m² live room with a four-metre ceiling
Three isolated recording cabins
On-site accommodation for up to 11 guests
DESIGNED AROUND THE PERFORMANCE
The recording spaces are connected so musicians can perform together while amplifiers and other sound sources remain isolated in separate cabins. This provides separation and control without losing the communication and energy of a shared performance.
Every recording space is fitted with integrated room microphones, allowing natural ambience to be captured whenever it benefits the production. Flat-response monitors are also available in each space for playback when required.
Fully floating solid-granite floors help minimise frequency transmission between rooms, supporting clean separation throughout the studio.
THE LIVE ROOM
27 m² | Four-metre ceiling | Three built-in ambient microphones
At the centre of the studio is a 27 m² live room with a four-metre ceiling. It provides a comfortable and flexible environment for ensemble recording, rehearsals and acoustically driven sessions.
Three built-in ambient microphones can be included when a production benefits from the natural sound and character of the room.
CABIN 1
11 m² | Drums and percussion | Flexible instrument room
Cabin 1 was designed with drums and percussion in mind. Its size and acoustic treatment support anything from focused, controlled drum sounds to more open and characterful recordings.
The room can also be used for guitars, brass, strings, piano and other sources that benefit from a dedicated recording space.
CABIN 2
7 m² | Amplifier isolation | Brass, strings and overdubs
Cabin 2 is particularly useful for guitar and keyboard amplifiers, rotary speakers and other amplified sources.
It can also accommodate brass, strings, backing vocals, drums or percussion when a different acoustic character or additional separation is required.
CABIN 3
5 m² | Vocals | Acoustic instruments
Cabin 3 provides an intimate, controlled environment for lead vocals and acoustic instruments.
It is especially suited to sessions where detail, focus and direct communication with the control room are important.
A RESIDENTIAL RECORDING EXPERIENCE
The studio is set in rural Normandy, with two fully equipped, self-catering cottages available for an additional fee.
Together, the cottages can accommodate up to 11 guests, allowing artists and crews to remain on site and concentrate on the project without daily travel or unnecessary interruptions.
EQUIPMENT WHEN THE MUSIC NEEDS IT
Sessions have access to a broad working collection of microphones, outboard equipment, instruments, amplifiers, rotary speakers and effects.
Equipment is selected around the sound and practical requirements of the session rather than used for its own sake.
RECORD IN FRANCE.
CONTINUE THE WORK REMOTELY.
Recording, production, mixing and mastering are all available at the main studio in Normandy. Projects can also continue after the recording sessions through remote collaboration, allowing artists to remain involved wherever they are based.
BAY Custom Studios also operates a private production suite in the Midlands for production, mixing and mastering. Any in-person work there is arranged individually and by prior agreement.
